Help
us launch our 18th Season! |
Dear
Friends of Longwood Opera,
We
hope you enjoyed Longwood Opera's 17th
consecutive season just as much as we did preparing it and presenting
it to you.
As
you know, staging opera is a complex and expensive endeavor. It
costs over $75 per performer just to rent costumes for six performances.
To print the programs for you to read costs $500. Longwood Opera
is a unique company in that we constantly strive to improve the
quality of our productions, while we continue to make our presentations
affordable and accessible - "Opera for All!"
To help us launch a successful 18th season, we are making an appeal
for your financial support. This spring we hope to present "A
Tribute to Leonard Bernstein." Then we will continue
with our popular summer concerts. We hope to return in the fall
of 2004 with Puccini's La Boheme, fully costumed,
staged and in English. In today's soft economic
climate which affects all facets of the performing arts, this is
a difficult undertaking without added financial assistance. We can
use your dollars now more than ever.
Please take a few moments to send us your tax deductible (end of
the year) contribution using the attached (PDF format) contribution
form. Angels and Benefactors will receive free summer season
passes!
Does your company have a matching grant program? If so, please consider
making Longwood Opera a recipient and increase the value of your
donation. We are very fortunate to have existing matching grants
from IBM, Verizon, Home Depot and John Hancock. If you are an employee
with any of these companies, please send us the matching contribution
form available from your Human Resources department and we will
take care of the rest.
We need your help and we know you will enjoy seeing your donations
at work!
Sincerely,
J. Scott Brumit
General Director
